Devlog #7 - Hands On Look at our Gauntlets

Howdy! Wowie, 2 devlogs in a week? Madness! We have some nice things to share with you all and we have decided that ontop of our weekly Friday devlog we might randomly throw up some interesting stuff, like our post earlier this week about our new weapon wheel UI.

This week we have had a lot of talks about where we are in development and what is important for us to get done in the next short while. We decided for us, what's best at the moment was to move onto more gameplay centered interactions. This means that we have paused progress on creating and testing new abilities. We definitely have a lot more ideas for abilities to try and our spreadsheet is only getting longer, however we now know that the ability system works perfectly and we can focus on actually making a game out of it. This week we have started working on a game progression document and have started planning out levels that utilize the abilities for different puzzles, situations and secrets! We don't want to give away too much now as everything is subject to change, but lets just say we area putting a "spark" into our game ;)

As Duke Nukem famously once said "Wow That's a Lotta Words, Too Bad I'm Not Reading Em", so lets show some stuff! Over the last two weeks, our fantastic artist Hang has been working on the modelling and animating of our gauntlets. We gathered inspiration from all team members and decided on the reference photo to start out with.

From there, the concept art commences. The vibe we wanted to obtain was a clean sci-fi look. Not too bulky with the right amount of hi-tech assets.

Then it was time to start the modelling process, the real difficulty was just about to begin. Hang has captured the stages of the gauntlet making and here are some screenshots.

From inspiration to concept to modelling, quite a tedious process but exciting stuff to see once this baby gets to move. Can't wait for you all to see!

As always make sure to follow us here on itch.io for your weekly devlogs and maybe a few cheeky test releases, and follow us on Twitter for some more regular updates from the team!

cám ơn and thank you,
